Look what I found!!

 Letting it go

There were tons of things in my everyday life that  made me want to smash my cell phone, throw that chair off the wall or just plain walk out. It could be my friends, my co-worker, my spouse, my kid or a complete stranger who flipped me off and whom I just want to get back at may be  later for all that hurt they caused me. But then I thought about it- real hard. Is it really worth all that time and energy that I waste thinking about what they did and how I would ensure that they “see the light”. Does it really turn my world upside down or I just think it does ?  Is the incident going to have a long term impact on my life or is it really about their word over mine or who wins an argument ? Take for instance, my spouse and I fighting over whether we want to take our kid to the pool or the park today and we finally end up going to the pool which is what my spouse had suggested. Is that really that big a deal? Am I really going to be hung up about that and spoil the rest of the time with my family ? My friend forgot to drop her son for a play date we had planned. It sure is a bummer, but then that’s what it is …just a let down. I’m learning to leave it to that and not dwell on it too much. There is no time for that when I have a much bigger fish to fry. Instead, I now use that energy doing something fun that will calm me down.

Those who know me think, as a mom of a child with autism, I’m generally positive in my outlook. I would like to believe that is true. However, in me hides a realist–not to be confused with a pessimist. The realist me rears its head every now and then and I kick it back in,…

  • My lone stalk

Last fall, I planted a jasmine cutting from a healthy, thriving jasmine plant. I was skeptical about its success, but it survived.
